Family Sessions….

I am regularly asked for suggestions on how to co-ordinate an entire family for their portrait session.  The simplest way I can give guidance, is for you to ask yourself what images would you like to see hanging on your walls and in the family album.  After all, everyone is unique, and it’s this individuality that I will try to capture during your session.

In general, it is best to keep things simple but whatever you choose, remain true to your own style, which in turn, allows the images to reflect who you are.

For a timeless family portrait, a common colour or style can give a sense of union, with the whole family coming together.  Examples of this are denim jeans with white/cotton/linen shirts; or even a similar theme of colours (pastels, cool or warm colours, etc),  however with each family member wearing the style of clothing that they are most comfortable in.

For a brighter and bolder statement, bright colours can provide a dramatic contrast against any scenery.  Whilst patterns, cartoon characters and logos can be fun, they do tend to distract from the subject and provide confusion when only partially seen from behind another family member.

If you would like to bring an alternative change of clothes, or even accessories (hats, sunglasses, jewellery, etc) there will be ample to time to make changes.  If outdoors, simple taking off your shoes and rolling your pant legs can open a whole new avenue of portrait styles.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime if you have any questions on 0414 015 602.  Looking forward to meeting you and your family!
